A NATURAL HEAVEN TO DISCOVER

The Albegna river rises at Mount Buceto (m.1018), and flows into the Mediterranean at the Torre Saline estuary.

En-route it borders Fontenuova for a kilometer or so, meandering between enormous white travertine boulfer and dense vegetation, leaving golden sandy beaches along it’s course.

A hot thermals spring joins the Albegna, creating wonderful natural rock pools of warm water – the perfect bathing spot in spring and early summer!

The varied landscape provides perfect habitats for many bird species, the blue crane in particular, while the river is home to chubs and trout amongst others.
